AI Adoption Can Help UP MSMEs Improve Productivity, Operational Efficiency: Prasada

Lucknow, Sep 28 (KNN) Uttar Pradesh is expanding its presence in artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, electronics and technology, with the state government working to build an integrated ecosystem for manufacturing, research and innovation, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada said. Speaking at the UP International Trade Show 2026 session on ‘UP’s Journey from Electronics Leader to AI and Semiconductor Powerhouse’, Prasada said technology and trade would remain key drivers of economic growth and highlighted efforts to expand technology-led development beyond Noida. Investments Strengthen UP’s Technology Ecosystem He said investments by companies such as Samsung and Yotta, along with data centres, AI laboratories and related infrastructure, are contributing to the state’s emerging technology ecosystem, reported Economic Times. The government is also seeking to develop the entire electronics value chain within the state, covering IC design, semiconductor components, electronic assembly and exports. Prasada said national initiatives such as the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme could support Uttar Pradesh in moving beyond assembly towards component manufacturing. MSMEs Urged To Adopt AI He also called on MSMEs to adopt AI to improve productivity, operational efficiency and cost competitiveness, while stressing the need for stronger collaboration between industry and academic institutions such as IIT Kanpur to develop skilled technology talent. UP Focuses On Mobile Manufacturing, GCCs Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary, IT and Electronics, Uttar Pradesh, said the state is also focusing on mobile manufacturing and attracting Global Capability Centres (GCCs). While Noida already hosts several GCCs, some have also started operations in Lucknow. Kumar said the state’s new GCC and IT policies aim to attract more such centres to Lucknow and Kanpur. IT and IT-enabled services have also been granted industry status in the state. (KNN Bureau)
