New research suggests AI digital twins may not accurately represent individuals. These artificial versions appear to systematically alter opinions and behavior, distorting recognizable traits. Digital twins also made people seem more rational and prone to stereotypes than actual participants. Wealthier and more educated individuals' digital twins were found to be more accurate. For now, AI twins serve as research assistants, not replacements for human participants.
