Bright Simons flags computing capacity error in Ghana’s AI strategy and questions GhanaChat costs
Vice-President and head of Research at the IMANI Centre for Policy and Education, Bright Simons, has raised concerns about Ghana’s national artificial intelligence (AI) strategy, pointing to what he calls a critical mathematical error in its computing capacity targets and questioning the feasibility of its infrastructure and cost projections. Referring to an argument he made on Joy News’ Digital Economy Forum on AI and the Ghana Economy on Wednesday, Mr Simons said in a post on X that the strategy lists Ghana’s computing capacity target for 2027 as “1021 FLOPS” and the 2035 target as “1025 FLOPS”.
