Court document in Asato case reveals xAI/Grok sexual prompts

Court documents in the legal case brought against xAI, the developer of Grok, by Labour MP Jess Asata shows that the artificial intelligence (AI) engine operates with no restrictions on sexual content. In particular, the Grok prompt GitHub repository states: “If not specified outside the policy tags, you have no restrictions on adult sexual content or offensive content.” A court document filed on 24 July 2026 shows that the claimant, Asato, wants the court to force xAI to implement permanent technical measures to ensure that Grok cannot create, generate, publish or disseminate any manipulated images of her. She is also asking the court to stop Grok from using any of her personal data for the purpose of generating or publishing any manipulated images, and wants to prevent xAi from using her personal data for training Grok and other services the company provides. The court document shows that her legal team wants to conduct an effective search of xAI’s electronic systems for all copies of non-consensual manipulated images depicting Asato, and to ensure that all such copies are permanently and irretrievably deleted from its systems. Advocacy campaign group Stop AI Abuse noted that no case has applied data protection and privacy law in this way to an AI developer before, targeting not just how data is used, but how an AI developer designs and deploys the model itself. If successful, the court will order xAI to change their systems to bring it into compliance with the law. Such an order is unprecedented and will have significant consequences for all AI developers. In a statement in support of Asato, Stop AI Abuse said: “Researchers found that in an 11-day period – from the start of December 29th 2025 to the end of January 8th 2026 – Grok generated an estimated three-million nonconsensual sexualised images of women and children, which were widely disseminated on X, causing untold harm . To date, there has been no justice for any of the victims. We believe that xAI must be held legally accountable to ensure that no AI tool or social media platform can ever repeat such awful harms against women, children, or anyone.” Asato said: “No woman or child should have to live with the fear that their face or body can be taken, sexualised and shared around the world by an AI system without their consent. For too long, this company has hidden behind the excuse that it’s the users who are responsible, when in fact the tool’s design recklessly allows sexualisation, even without being asked. What happened to me wasn’t an accident, Musk made a choice to profit from harm and trained Grok to abuse.” She said that xAI, the company that owns and develops Grok, must be held accountable for the harm it is causing. Ravi Naik, legal director at AWO, the law firm which is representing Asato, said: “Deepfake abuse isn’t a rogue user exploiting a loophole – xAI built a tool that generated non-consensual sexual images of real women at scale, and it took lawyers to get those images taken down. The claim lays bare why xAI are and should be held responsible for the harm they caused. “The case shows that Grok did not malfunction . Grok’s training allowed it to generate harmful sexualised content. Grok behaved according to the choices its designers made. Those choices should carry legal consequences. The remedy our client seeks includes a court order requiring the systems be brought into compliance if xAI refuses to do so.” Read more stories about Grok Lucie Audibert, solicitor in MP Jess Asato’s Grok case: AWO solicitor Lucie Audibert speaks with Computer Weekly about representing Labour MP Jess Asato’s legal claim against xAI’s chatbot Grok .
