Deutsche Bank Private Bank Launches Agentic AI Solution for Source of Wealth KYC Processes

Deutsche Bank Private Bank today announced the rollout of an Agentic AI-enabled Source of Wealth (SoW) solution, a major step in its strategy to apply AI to complex banking processes while maintaining strong governance and controls. The solution went live in Singapore and Hong Kong booking centres at the beginning of September, with a broader rollout across the Private Bank’s wealth management centres planned. It was also launched for the bank’s advisors in Dubai for accounts booked in Singapore. Source of Wealth is a core element of the Know Your Customer (KYC) process and requires banks to establish and document how prospective clients accumulated their wealth. The new solution supports this process by automating research, documentation and the preparation of Source of Wealth data, drawing on information available within the client case and from approved external sources. Yiping Li, Chief Operating Officer of Deutsche Bank Private Bank, said: "This Agentic AI solution helps us make a complex process more efficient, consistent and scalable while maintaining robust controls and human oversight. As we continue to embed AI across our global operations, this initiative demonstrates how technology can address practical business challenges and improve client onboarding. We developed it with a clear principle in mind: while tasks can be automated, accountability remains with our people." Integrated into the Bank’s digital KYC platform, the solution analyses information from client documentation and approved sources, helping identify gaps or inconsistencies and supporting the preparation of Source of Wealth assessments for human review. This reduces administrative effort, supports a smoother onboarding experience and allows relationship managers to spend more time advising clients. Marco Pagliara, Head of Emerging Markets at Deutsche Bank Private Bank, said: "This use case demonstrates how AI can support both strong controls and a better client experience. By reducing manual and repetitive tasks, we enable our relationship managers to focus more on advising clients while maintaining the high standards expected by clients and regulators. It is a practical example of how technology can improve productivity while strengthening the quality and consistency of our processes." The solution is expected to support significantly higher client onboarding volumes while leveraging the existing operating model and control framework. Based on current forecasts, the bank’s Emerging Markets coverage region is on track to onboard approximately 30 per cent more clients in 2026 compared with 2025, and contributes towards the Singapore industry's ambition to achieve median onboarding timelines of one month or less, including more complex cases.
