Karnataka Explores Anthropic Partnership To Bring AI Into Governance, Education & Healthcare

Karnataka is exploring a strategic partnership with Anthropic, the company behind Claude AI, to accelerate artificial intelligence adoption across governance, education, healthcare and startups. During a meeting with Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, both sides discussed AI-powered public services, responsible AI deployment, data privacy, AI skilling, deep-tech innovation and research collaborations with IISc. The proposals include Claude AI certification under the NIPUNA initiative, subsidised AI access for universities, support for over 20,000 startups, and AI applications to reduce fraud, improve tax collection and strengthen public service delivery. If implemented, the collaboration could position Karnataka as India's leading AI innovation hub while creating one of the country's largest AI-ready talent ecosystems.
