Norway AI Ban: Government Restricts Generative Artificial Intelligence Use for Students Under 14 Amid Learning Concerns
Norway will impose a near ban on generative AI tools for elementary school students from the new academic year beginning in August. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said the move is aimed at protecting foundational learning skills such as reading, writing and mathematics. The government will also increase the use of physical books in classrooms and continue efforts to reduce children's exposure to digital technologies.
