Qatar Public Prosecution launches self-service kiosk to streamline inmate requests

Doha, Qatar: The Public Prosecution, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, has launched a self-service kiosk that enables direct and secure communication between inmates in correctional and rehabilitation institutions and the Public Prosecution. The platform facilitates the submission of requests by inmates through smart devices supported by artificial intelligence technologies provided in correctional and rehabilitation institutions. This ensures that requests reach the Public Prosecution directly for efficient and confidential review and processing, thereby strengthening the legal guarantees afforded to inmates, preserving their rights, and reinforcing confidence in the justice system. The platform features several advantages, including independent and secure login for each inmate to submit requests verbally in their chosen language. Inmates can also listen to audio recordings through a special headset, ensuring the highest level of confidentiality and protecting the privacy of the request's content. Through the platform, the Public Prosecution's Enforcement of Sentences Office receives requests directly from inmates, processes them, and notifies inmates of the response. Inmates can then view the Public Prosecution's response in the same language in which the request was submitted. The platform also allows inmates to submit all public service requests to the Public Prosecution and view their reports and the actions taken on them. The Public Prosecution stated the platform aligns with its strategy for digital transformation and maximizing the use of smart technologies in developing judicial services while promoting the principles of justice and transparency. It added that the initiative also implements its mandate to protect the rights of inmates in correctional and rehabilitation institutions.
