Revolutionary Blood Test for Early Cancer Detection Launched in India

Zydus Lifesciences and Apollo Hospitals have launched the Shield Multi-Cancer Detection test, a revolutionary blood test that screens for signals of ten common cancers from a single sample. Aimed at adults over 45, this test utilizes advanced genomic technology to identify potential cancer presence and the originating organ. While it offers a less invasive alternative to traditional screening methods, experts caution that it should not replace standard tests. With over 1.41 million new cancer cases reported in India in 2022, this innovative approach could significantly enhance early detection, especially for cancers lacking organized screening programs.
